Repair planning when a claim is involved

Insurance Collision Repair in Van Nuys

An insurance claim affects payment and documentation. It does not replace the shop's repair estimate or the customer's authorization of the work.

Three parties, different responsibilities

Know who decides what

The customer authorizes repairs. The shop assesses damage and performs authorized work. The insurance carrier reviews the claim and decides coverage and payment under the policy.

The vehicle owner

Provides claim and contact information, reviews the repair estimate, authorizes work, and handles the deductible or other customer payment obligations.

The repair shop

Inspects the vehicle, prepares repair documentation, explains the proposed work, completes authorized repairs, and issues the final invoice.

The insurance carrier

Reviews the claim, policy, and submitted information. The carrier controls its coverage and payment decisions. Mastercraft cannot promise approval.

Claim-related repair sequence

From first estimate to vehicle pickup

The sequence may vary by carrier and damage. These stages explain the practical handoffs without promising an insurer outcome.

Share claim details

Provide the claim number, carrier information, vehicle details, and known damage if a claim is already open.

Assess the vehicle

Mastercraft documents the visible damage and prepares the proposed repair estimate for the specific job.

Review and authorize

The customer reviews the shop estimate and authorizes repairs through the repair documents.

Document added damage

If authorized disassembly reveals additional collision-related damage, the repair scope may need revised documentation.

Obtain added authorization

Additional work and charges require customer authorization before those operations proceed.

Complete and invoice

The shop completes authorized repairs, performs final checks, and provides the final invoice.

California repair documents

An insurer estimate is not the same as repair authorization

California repair transactions require an estimate and customer authorization before covered repairs begin. Additional repairs and charges require revised documentation and authorization.

The California Bureau of Automotive Repair explains these rights and the records used in a repair transaction. The source is useful whether the customer is paying directly or an insurer is involved.

Insurance repair questions

What the claim does and does not determine

Do you work on insurance collision repairs?

Yes. Mastercraft Auto Inc. provides insurance collision repair. Bring the claim information you have so the repair and payment process can be discussed for your situation.

Does the insurance estimate authorize the shop to begin?

No. The customer must authorize the repair through the repair transaction documents. A claim estimate or website form does not replace that authorization.

What happens if more damage is found?

Additional collision-related damage may become visible after authorized disassembly. The added parts, labor, and revised total need to be documented, communicated, and authorized before added work proceeds.

Can Mastercraft guarantee what my insurer will pay?

No. The insurance carrier controls claim coverage and payment under the policy. The shop can document the proposed repair, but it cannot promise the carrier's decision.

Have a claim number or accident estimate?
